The kitchen table

Yonder started as PowerPoint slides at the kitchen table because I couldn’t find flash cards that kept my son’s interests.

He was falling behind in reading and the flash cards we bought were dry. The words didn’t come to life, so we made our own.

Learning has gone one-size-fits-all. It has become unimaginative, boring, and doesn’t meet the kids where they are.

I wanted his interests to do the work. Pirates and treasure. Army and knights. Dinosaurs and space. Adventure and discovery.

That’s the whole idea. A child sees a word. Then the world behind it.

We’re early. More worlds will come. This is a father and son project made to help the kids who would rather be somewhere else — and for the parent trying to meet them there.

Yonder is about bringing fun, imagination, and discovery back to learning.
